Education Exhibition Kilinochchi: A new Chapter in the reconciliation concept

28 June Kilinochchi 5It was an unmatched performance, two-day emotion packed ceremony – Education exhibition in Kilinochchi, organized by Major General Udaya Perera, Security Forces Commander, at the Kilinochchi Madhya Mahavidyalayam from 28 to 29 June. Kilinochchi Security Forces Commander has written a new chapter in the ‘reconciliation concept’ and on how to win the hearts and mind of the people.

People and students of Kilinochchi were flabbergasted over the compassion the Security Forces Commander and his men and women shown in the education of the students.

Security Forces in Kilinochchi has shown their concern and interest in the welfare of the children of Kilinochchi, as if they were their brothers’ and sisters’ children – something unbelievable and exemplary.

At the two-day Education Exhibition, total number of 1554 Scholarships were awarded for students of 121 Schools coming under SFHQ (Kilinochchi) from the districts of Kilinochchi, Mullaitivu and Mannar.

28 June Kilinochchi 1Contributions for the Scholarship Programme came from:

1. Governor Northern Province – Rs. 5 Million

2. MAS Holdings Pvt Ltd – Rs. 2.5 Million

3. Troops under SF HQ Kilinochchi – Rs. 132, 800/= ( Monthly contribution).

Also 3 x Desktop Computers and accessories were distributed to 3 Universities students from Kilinochchi studying at University of Peradeniya, Jaffna and Eastern University.

121 Schools from SFHQ(Kilinochchi) area and 7 Schools from South with:

1759 Arts Items and Invitees 501 (Total Arts 2260 items).

759 Exhibit Items and Invitees 477 items. ( Total 1272 Items).

Outside School Participation:

Royal College – Colombo ( 18 Students)

Darmaraja College – Kandy (20 students)

St. Aloysius National College – Rathnapura ( 36 Students)

Richmond College – Galle (07 Students)

Defence College – Colombo ( 39 Students)

Jaffna T.M. ( 13 Students)

Vavuniya Maha Vidyalayam ( 14 Students)

 

Total visitors for the exhibition on Day 1 (adults and School Children both) is approximately 6400 and Day 2 figures are still tabulated but sources said that it has exceeded 10,000.
