Students excelled in GCE (A/L) Exam, felicitated by Governor – 02 January 2014

A ceremony to felicitate the students who obtained best results in GCE (Advanced Level) examination was held at Governor’s Secretariat, Jaffna on 02nd January 2014.

During this event, the students who have best performed in last year GCE (A/L) exam at Provincial level and District level were felicitated by the governor. They were awarded with a medal, cash prize and a certificate.

Governor gave the pooja materials worth of 50,000 rupees to Hindu priest Senthura Sharma Kurukkal of Eachchamottai Gnana-Vairavar Hindu temple to mark the dawn of New Year. While addressing to the gatherings, Governor extended his New Year wishes to all. He said the students of Northern Province made the province proud. He thanked all those who worked for this achievement. He also said that Northern Province has developed in every aspect under the guidance and dynamic leadership of the HE the president Mahinda Rajapaksa. People are doing their day to day activities at a peaceful atmosphere.

Governor also requested all government officers to extend their full support to the Chief Vigneshwaran and provincial ministers in this year like before. The Northern Provincial Council is running smoothly without any interruption. Since the establishment of the Northern Province, the country is on a right footing that all provincial councils are fully functional as of this date.


Northern education sector has regained & restored the lost pride

The Northern Province has seen many development during the last 4½ years. Many sectors have seen a rapid development. Especially, the education sector has shown a remarkable improvement . The results of the G C E (A/L) is one good evidence for this achievement. These results not only showed the real situation of the country but also showed the standard of education sector in the province. It restored the lost pride of northern education sector during the 3 decade armed conflict.

Governor also requested the best performed students to get blessings from the Chief Minister C. V. Wigneshwaran as well.

Commencement of events at the auspicious time

The events commenced with Governor of the province, lighting of traditional oil lamps and continued with the blessing of all religious leaders. In his address, the Professor Emeritus P.Balasundarampillai said that education sector of Northern Province is being improved and encouraged by Hon. Governor of Northern Province with various education projects. He stressed that contribution of the parents is must to the students to reach their targets in future.

Distribution of English teacher appointment Letters to the Catholic priests

Governor also distributed the English teacher appointment letters to catholic priests at this occasion. Accordingly, five catholic reverend fathers received appointment letters as English teachers from Governor. Subsequently Governor felicitated the students who obtained top marks in each stream at district and provincial level.
At the same occasion, 96 drivers of Grade III recruits also received appointment letters from the Governor.

Chief Secretary of Northern Province Mrs.R.Wijialudchumi, Secretary to the Governor L.Ilaangovan, secretaries to the provincial ministries, heads of departments attached to the provincial council, school principals and parents also took part at these events.
