New Sales Center for Dept. of Rural Industries, EPC Opened at Trincomalee


A new Sales Center for the Department of Rural Industries, EPC was opened by the Hon. Z.A. Nazeer Ahamed (Eng) Minister of Agriculture, EPC on 29.10.2013 at Trincomalee town.

Hon. W.G.M. Ariyawathi Galappaththi, Chairman of EPC, Hon. Anwar Ramlan Ahamed, Member of EPC, Hon. A.L.M.Nazeer, Member of EPC and Mr.K.Pathmanathan, Secretary to the Ministry of Agriculture, EPC. also participated at this event.

51 Division Organizes Anti Dengue Programme

2013_12_11_1Jaffna, once reported the highest number of dengue victims in 2010 was later able to reduce its death toll within a couple of months having followed necessary preventive measures. Sri Lanka Army with the help of Northern Province Health Department authorities played pivotal role in controlling spread of dengue organizing shramadana campaigns to clean the environment and awareness programmes.

Continuing the same project, the 51 Division carried out a seven day anti dengue programme in Gurunagar, Suthumalai, Karainagar, Chullipuram, Kokuvil and Manippay areas from 29th November to 5th December.

Soldiers of all battalions serving under 511, 512 and 513 Brigades cleared garbage dumps and polluted wells and cleaned lands of public places such as religious places and schools.

Public Health Inspectors and civilians supported the soldiers to conduct shramadana in respective areas.


Students excelled in GCE (A/L) Exam, felicitated by Governor – 02 January 2014

A ceremony to felicitate the students who obtained best results in GCE (Advanced Level) examination was held at Governor’s Secretariat, Jaffna on 02nd January 2014.

During this event, the students who have best performed in last year GCE (A/L) exam at Provincial level and District level were felicitated by the governor. They were awarded with a medal, cash prize and a certificate.

Governor gave the pooja materials worth of 50,000 rupees to Hindu priest Senthura Sharma Kurukkal of Eachchamottai Gnana-Vairavar Hindu temple to mark the dawn of New Year. While addressing to the gatherings, Governor extended his New Year wishes to all. He said the students of Northern Province made the province proud. He thanked all those who worked for this achievement. He also said that Northern Province has developed in every aspect under the guidance and dynamic leadership of the HE the president Mahinda Rajapaksa. People are doing their day to day activities at a peaceful atmosphere.

Governor also requested all government officers to extend their full support to the Chief Vigneshwaran and provincial ministers in this year like before. The Northern Provincial Council is running smoothly without any interruption. Since the establishment of the Northern Province, the country is on a right footing that all provincial councils are fully functional as of this date.
