JMC clears unmaintained lands to mark Dengue Week – 13 September 2014

15035149117_eb3ddae657“Sri Lanka Ministry of Health has declared the week from Wednesday, as a National Dengue Control Week to launch island wide cleaning campaigns for mosquito eradication as well as awareness campaigns. Operations during the Dengue Control Week aim to take measures for the prevention of mosquito breeding grounds taking into consideration with the forthcoming Northeast Monsoon. As a part of this, Northern Province also joins in this campaign under the patronage of Governor of the Province G A Chandrasiri.”

In order to mark the National Dengue Control Week (September 10 – September 16), every organization in the province has planned to conduct shramadana programmes.

Governor of the Northern Province GA Chandrasiri instructed the Jaffna Municipal Council to clear the lands and houses which are not properly maintained by their owners. Accordingly clearing and cleaning processes are being carried out by the Jaffna Municipal Council labourers now.
