Mobile Service Conducted by EPC at Batticaloa

A mobile service was conducted under the guidance and chairmanship of Hon. Chief Minister Z.A. Nazeer Ahamed with the collaboration of Provincial Ministries and Departments, District Secretariat and other Central Government Agencies on 14.05.2015 at Municipal Council Hall, Batticaloa.

The objective of this mobile service is to seek solutions to the public problems faced in various sectors like agriculture, fisheries, industries, lands and irrigation, housing, local government services and other essential service sectors administered by the central government agencies.

Around 1091 complaints were received during this mobile service. Instant solutions were sought to 672 complaints, remaining complaints were treated for further action within a scheduled period. Provincial Ministries, Departments, Statutory bodies and Central Government Agencies took part in this service.

The Eastern Province Housing Authority was opened

E1M1-01-09-2014The Eastern Province Housing Authority was declared open by Hon. Rear Admiral (Retd.)Mohan Wijewickrama RSP, VSV, USP, Governor of Eastern Province and Hon. Najeeb Abdul Majeed, Chief Minister of Eastern Provincial Council on the invitation of Hon. M.S. Uthumalebbe, Minister of Road Development, Irrigation, Housing and Construction, Rural Electification and Water Supply, Eastern Provincial Council.

Hon. Wimalaweera Dissanayaka, Minister of Education and Transport, Hon. M.I.M. Mansoor, Minister of Health and Social Services Hon. W.G.M. Ariyawathy Galappathy, Chairman, Eastern Provincial Council, Hon. M.S. Subair, Deputy Chairman, Eastern Provincial Council and Hon. Members of Eastern Provincial Council along with the Chief Secretary, Secretaries, Deputy Chief Secretaries, Heads of department and other higher officers from Eastern Provincial Council participated on the occasion.

This Housing Authority fulfill the long awaited ambition of people of Eastern Province, who were being longing for peace and development for thirty years. This Housing Authority would grant relief to the people of Eastern Province who were affected by three decayed by unprecedented war in the Eastern Province.

Iftar Ceremony Celebrated in Eastern Provincial Council

E1M1-18-07-2014The Iftar Ceremony was organized by Hon. M.S.Uthumalebbe, Provincial Minister of Road Development, Irrigation, Housing & Construction, Rural Electrification and Water Supply and celebrated at the Hindu Cultural Hall, Trincomalee on 18th of July, 2014 at 5.00 pm.

Hon. Governor, Eastern Province, Rear Admiral Mohan Wijewickrama, Hon. A.L.M. Athaullah, Minister of Provincial Council and Local Government, Hon. R. Sampanthan, TNA Leader, Members of the Parliament, and Hon. Ministers, Opposition Leader & Members of EPC, Secretaries, Deputy Chief Secretaries, Heads of Departments and Officers of Eastern Provincial Council, Commanders from all three forces, Religious Heads, Political Leaders, Heads of Traders Organization and people participated at this Ceremony.

Irrigation Week 2013 in Eastern Province Inaugurated

Irrigation Week – 2013 was organized by the Department of Irrigation, EPC with the co-ordination of Central Irrigation Department. The opening ceremony of Irrigation Week 2013 was held on 21.10.2013 at the Meenodaikattu Konawaththa Grounds in Addalaichenai.

Eng. I.L.Thowfeek, Deputy Director of the Irrigation, Ampara District presided the function.

Hon. Minister of Road Development EPC M.S.Uthumalebbe, (MPC) was the chief guest at this ceremony and inaugurated the Irrigation Week – 2013.

The irrigation schemes, those are MeenodaiKattu, Konawaththa vadichchal scheme and Vallakundu Vadichel Scheme were started and laid boundary stones for Konawaththa scheme relating to the Irrigation week – 2013.

Thousand Acres of land in Addalaichenai will be benefited through this development schemes and which are important for the farmers of the particular area.

M.I.M.Z.Ibrahim, Irrigation Engineer also participated at this event.
