“Sri Lanka Ministry of Health has declared the week from Wednesday, as a National Dengue Control Week to launch island wide cleaning campaigns for mosquito eradication as well as awareness campaigns. Operations during the Dengue Control Week aim to take measures for the prevention of mosquito breeding grounds taking into consideration with the forthcoming Northeast Monsoon. As a part of this, Northern Province also joins in this campaign under the patronage of Governor of the Province G A Chandrasiri.”
In order to mark the National Dengue Control Week (September 10 – September 16), every organization in the province has planned to conduct shramadana programmes.
Governor of the Northern Province GA Chandrasiri instructed the Jaffna Municipal Council to clear the lands and houses which are not properly maintained by their owners. Accordingly clearing and cleaning processes are being carried out by the Jaffna Municipal Council labourers now.
“This medical camp has been a very useful practice and it served the people of Kilinochchi. The Killinochchi people thanked the relevant officials for initiating this noble task for the betterment of human kind.”
A special medical camp was held at Kilinochchi Santhapuram Kalaimagal Vidyalayam on 05th April 2014. This was organized under the guidance of Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa by Health Ministry for health enhancement of the people who resettled at Santhapuram and Ambalnagar in accordance to a concept of the Mahinda Chinthaya.
“Tharunayata Hetak” organization sponsored the camp. Parliamentarian Namal Rajapkasa and Governor of the Northern Province GA Chandrasiri participated and inaugurated the programme.
602 people benefitted at this medical. RDHS, Kilinochchi Dr.Karithikeyan also participated in this event.
A ceremony to hand over 24 ambulances to the District Hospitals and the Base Hospitals in Northern Province was held at Ministry of Health & Indigenous Medicine on 19 March 2014 at 11AM. Minister of Health & IM Dr.P.Sathiyalingam headed the event.These ambulances were donated by JICA Project.
Chief Minister of Northern Provincial Council Justice C.V.Wigneswaran participated as the Chief Guest and Chairman of Northern Province Council C.V.K Sivagnanamparticipated as the Special Guest. Members of NPC E.Arnold, C.Sugirthan, B.Kajatheepan, Secretary to the Minister Ministry of Health & Indigenous Medicine, and other Ministries’ Secretaries, Provincial Director of Health Services, Provincial Commissioner of Indigenous Medicine, RDHs , Medical Superintendents, Medical Officers and Health Officials also took part at this event.
